This page explains how we decide what goes on this site, where our facts come from, and what we do when something turns out to be wrong.
Our Purpose
Check SIM Owner Details exists to make Pakistan’s official SIM-registration self-check process — 668 by SMS, and cnic.sims.pk on the web — easy to find and easy to use correctly, and to correct the misinformation that circulates around “SIM owner details” searches. We are not a lookup service, and nothing we publish is designed to help identify a stranger from a phone number.
Sourcing Policy
We rank our sources in this order, and we say so in the text when a claim relies on anything below the top tier:
- First-party sources — PTA’s own FAQ pages and press releases, the text of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 as consolidated in the Pakistan Code, and NADRA’s official statements. These are the only sources we treat as settled fact without qualification.
- Dated news coverage — reputable Pakistani press reporting on a specific, named regulatory change (a fee, a merger, an enforcement figure). We cite the date and, where possible, the original announcement it’s reporting on.
- Unconfirmed claims — anything we could not trace to either of the above is labelled as unverified directly on the page, or left out entirely, rather than presented as fact.
We do not treat other websites — including other guides in this same topic area — as a source. If a claim only exists because another site repeats it, we don’t repeat it without independent confirmation.
Review Cadence
Every page carries a “Reviewed” date near the top. Telecom rules, fees, and figures in Pakistan change periodically — we revisit pages when we become aware of a relevant change, and at minimum on an ongoing basis as part of normal maintenance. An older “Reviewed” date is a signal to double-check anything time-sensitive (a fee amount, a phone number) directly with PTA before relying on it.
Correction Policy
If a reader or a subject-matter source shows us that something is wrong, we fix it and, for significant corrections, note the date of the update. There is no cost or barrier to reporting an error — use the Contact Us page and tell us the page and the specific claim you believe is incorrect, ideally with a source.
Independence and No Lookup Policy
We accept no payment to present a claim as true, and we do not run advertising for any product or service that claims to look up SIM or phone-number ownership — because no such legitimate service exists. Our revenue, if any, does not depend on convincing readers that a lookup is possible; it depends on this page being an accurate explanation of what actually is possible.
